Gen Re currently offers an excellent opportunity for a Reinsurance Contracts Specialist in Contracts unit our Stamford, CT office under a hybrid in-office/work from home schedule or performed remotely with periodic trips to the Stamford office for an appropriately qualified individual.
Role Description
Primary Responsibilities
The Reinsurance
Contracts Specialist contributes to the Contracts team by performing one or
more of the following functions:
- Review market-produced reinsurance contracts against corporate standards and agreed-upon terms.The Reinsurance Contracts Specialist may focus on certain lines (property, casualty, specialty) or structures (excess of loss, quota share, per risk, per occurrence, per policy).The Reinsurance Contracts Specialist analyzes both general clauses and business-specific contract provisions, identifies wording that is contrary to standards or terms, and suggests alternative wording as appropriate.
- Draft reinsurance contracts and endorsements based on corporate standard wordings, client clauses, and agreed terms.
- Update standard contract templates.
- Review client policy forms and endorsements against standard bureau forms and common industry wordings.
Additional Responsibilities
- Keep current on reinsurance contract/policy wording.
- Develop specialized knowledge of particular lines of business .
- Collaborate with other Contracts Specialists, Underwriters, and Claims and Legal colleagues to improve wordings.
- Develop specialized knowledge of reinsurance contract structures or features.
- Set challenging goals and work to meet them.
- Effectively manage time and meet deadlines.
Role Qualifications and Experience
- College degree required. CPCU designation, ARe designation, JD degree a plus.
- At least three years of experience in a Contracts Specialist, Underwriting, Claims or similar position.
- Knowledge of reinsurance and/or primary insurance standards, practices and principles.
- Knowledge of contract clauses and/or primary policy forms.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Very high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with colleagues within and across departments.
- Excellent Word skills; proficient in technology.
- Strong time management skills.
Salary Range
105,000.00 - 175,000.00 USDThe annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
