We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Nuclear Technologies Research and Development Production Supervisor to join our GA-EMS team located in Rancho Bernardo, CA
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position develops, schedules and implements work activities for the Research and Development Manufacturing areas. Coordinates with Technicians on day to day activities of the production process, including personnel supervision, work assignments, and coordination of the product flow through the research and development and production phase. Works daily with Design Engineering on all projects in the Manufacturing areas. Interprets and executes policies and procedures and recommends modifications to operating policies.
- Supervises Technicians in various locations through all phases of DOE’s and production in accordance with established schedules. Offers guidance and coaching to Technician personnel.
- Oversees fabrication, modifications, installs, and documents laboratory experiments, experimental or commercial equipment of moderate complexity in conjunction with prototype and lab processes.
- Oversees the design and building of tooling needed for the production process as well as operates specialized equipment and/or performs tests requiring knowledge of processes and the ability to read precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and depth gauges.
- Examines defective equipment to determine cause of malfunction and reports need for repairs. Assists test department with expeditious turnaround of repairs as required. Assists engineering staff to resolve design and documentation issues. Interfaces with planning personnel in the generation of process flows.
- Analyzes blueprints to determine information such as material to be used, type of operations, and sequence of operations required. Monitors usage and supply of all production materials and tooling; reorders when necessary. Interfaces with Design Engineering for any clarification needed.
- Formulates and recommends plans, policies, procedures and schedules for the section. Seeks methods to improve product quality, repeatability and efficiency. Schedules and coordinates work assignments. Ensures accurate time charging. Inspects work in progress and finished products.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the departments.
- Performs Interviews and writes weekly reports to Management.
- Implements configuration changes in the product and supports field upgrades and operations.
- May interface with outside vendors and sales representatives to stay current on new products and services. May interface with customers to answer questions relating to the product.
- Participates in hiring, promoting, and training subordinate employees. Assigns, directs and reviews their work.
- Preforms other duties as assigned or required.
- May work with toxic materials, chemicals and gases, and may work with radioactive materials.
- Monitors all operations for regulatory and safety compliance.
Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires education or formal training equivalent to the completion of an Associates degree and eleven or more years progressively complex experience in Production Control including five or more years supervisor experience. Additional professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education
- Must demonstrate an extensive technical understanding of working with high temperature vacuum systems, with the ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate workloads and staff to meet established milestones.
- Must be customer focused and possess: the ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop innovative solutions to a variety of complex matters of diverse scope and nature.
- Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings to a variety of audiences including management and outside representatives.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees and external representatives.
- Must have strong math skills, and be able to convert between decimals and fractions, and convert between imperial and metric units.
- Must have the capability to perform complex assignments under limited review.
- Ability and willingness to work on systems which have unusual conditions such as high pressure, high voltage, high energy, cryogens, or radioactive materials, and must be able to perform duties with confidence while wearing personal protective equipment.
- The ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; (5) the ability to represent the company on external projects.
- Strong computer skills.
- The ability to work extended hours and travel is required.
- US citizenship is required.
