Senior Network Engineer will diagnose, triage, resolve and document network-related support calls and questions from users or customers. They evaluate requests for new services, propose appropriate solutions and perform testing and turn-up of these services. They also ensure accuracy of service and network documentation, maintain network integrity and monitor network alarms, troubleshoot network issues, aid in restoration of network services and assist in root cause analysis events.
This position requires understanding and following standard procedures, escalating situations falling outside of these procedures to management. The Senior Network Engineer should have well-developed decision making, analytical and problem-solving skills, displaying the ability to provide solutions where they may not currently exist. They must possess excellent oral/written communication skills, be a self-starter, results-oriented with strong organizational ability and a high level of integrity. The Senior Network Engineer must be able to work independently, but also be a solid team player and contributor. Errors in work or actions can affect company-wide networks.
POSITION DEMANDS (Education/Experience/Skill Sets)
Bachelor’s degree or 10 years of directly related experience
At least 5 years’ experience supporting MS Windows environment
Thorough understanding of LAN/WAN, DNS, routing, switches, security appliances
Cisco, Juniper or additional certifications a plus
Experience with Cisco switching a plus
Knowledgeable and proficient with full suite of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Visio, etc.)
Knowledge of telecommunications network design principles and processes
Possess critical thinking skills and problem-solving ability
Excellent communication skills both oral and written
Be an accurate, flexible, fast learner with a consistent attention to detail and follow-up
Be self-motivated and able to work with little or no supervision
Must demonstrate a willingness to learn
Ability to multi-task in a busy and changing work environment with critical deadlines
Proficiency in Cisco Catalyst Center (formerly Cisco DNA Center)
Experience with network automation and assurance
Ability to configure and manage network policies, automation, and analytics
Experience with device onboarding and lifecycle management
Troubleshooting and optimizing software-defined networking (SDN) solutions
Strong understanding of Cisco ISE architecture and deployment models
Ability to integrate ISE with Active Directory (AD), PKI, and other identity providers
Hands-on experience with TrustSec, segmentation, and profiling
Strong understanding of Zero Trust Security (ZTS) principles
Experience implementing network segmentation and micro segmentation
Knowledge of Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP) and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA)
Familiarity with multi-factor authentication (MFA) and least privilege access models
Ability to document network designs, policies, and configurations
Familiarity with Firepower Management Center (FMC)
Experience with migrating from Juniper SRX firewalls to Cisco Next-Gen Firewalls
Ability to configure Cisco Wireless Assurance for wireless analytics
Experience in designing and implementing Cisco Wireless LAN solutions
Proficiency in Wi-Fi security standards (WPA2, WPA3, EAP, 802.11r/k/v)
Understanding of RF planning, spectrum analysis, and interference mitigation
