Job Description
We are currently hiring an experienced Mechanical Engineer (ME) in the General Radar Engineering Organization. In this position you will design from the ground up working with all engineering functions. Prototyping, mechanical design and layout, cooling systems, thermal analysis, structural analysis and working with MEs from vendors and subcontractors are all part of the Mechanical function.
The ME will report to the ME Lead within the General Radar Engineering organization. Work with cross functional teams to support the development of prototype systems as well as fielded systems supporting multi-mission objectives.
This position is hybrid with the preference for the candidate to be located in the Boston, MA or Dallas TX area. Travel to the other sites is expected periodically to support development, test and production.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 10 years of prior relevant experience with large complex systems in design and manufacturing
- Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Professional written, verbal and presentation skills
- Ability to work across disciplines to find balanced approaches to technical schedule
- US Citizen

- 15 years of prior relevant experience
- Experience with high power radar technology

Primary Responsibilities
- Integrate and specify a comprehensive mechanical solution underpinning the total radar including cooling, structure, support, power, environmental, and other required systems
- Develop prototypes and test concepts for manufacturable production components
- Utilize standardized drawings to communicate designs with manufacturers
- Specify and source components with knowledge of industry standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define mechanical requirements and specifications
- Design, model, and analyze mechanical components and systems using CAD software
- Conduct feasibility studies to evaluate design concepts and propose optimal solutions
- Implement design improvements to enhance performance, reliability, and efficiency
- Contribute to the prototyping and testing of mechanical and thermal systems
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and project requirements

Skills
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably in radar or similar technology
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for 3D modeling and simulation
- Able to perform Finite Element Analysis and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics
- Experience in thermal analysis and knowledge of materials selection
- Test instrumentation setup and operation to prove out concepts
- Knowledge of sensor and systems integration
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
