The Controller is responsible for developing and maintaining the accounting systems and processes that enable the protection of company assets and the reliability and timeliness of financial reporting in a manner consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
In addition, the Controller analyzes financial performance, recognizes inconsistencies, and actively manages improvement efforts as the needs arise. Selection, leadership, and development of the supporting team is an important element of the role.

Key Responsibilities
The Controller leads the accounting team in executing both standard and ad hoc tasks to enable the department to maintain accurate accounts, and report results on a timely basis, while maintaining a strong structure of internal controls. Specific departmental responsibilities include:
- Planning, directing all accounting functions
- Providing accurate financial information to decision makers throughout the company
- Overseeing the cyclical tasks performed by accounting staff, to include the monthly closing and reporting process, annual reporting and audits, and all related outside reporting
- Coordinating the annual budgeting process, to include the financial budget and the manufacturing burden rate budget
- Preparing and overseeing the auditing process performed by external resources, including the coordination of the annual physical inventory
- Providing leadership by developing, managing, and evaluating performance of team members
- Requisitioning and selecting team members
Organizational Relationships and Authority
The Controller reports directly to the Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. Direct reports to this position are likely to include:
- Accounting Manager
- Senior Accountant
- Accounts Payable Coordinator
Job Demands and Expectations

Qualifications and Competencies
- Strong grasp of GAAP and experience in its application in a manufacturing setting
- Ability to maintain a broad view of the business, coupled with the ability to go deeply into granular transactional data generated at the points of operational activity, as required by the analytical task at hand
- The Controller must possess excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to produce coherent written documents that are free of spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors. The individual should have an optimistic and supportive attitude, and must maintain strict confidence regarding all information pertaining to the company’s operations, employees, financial matters, and personal matters of which the employee may become aware in the course of their work.
- CPA designation preferred
- Utilize software applications to analyze and present financial information (Manufacturing ERP & Microsoft Office etc.)

The position requires a minimum of eight years of Accounting experience, including three years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. The individual must be knowledgeable of, and experienced in, the application of both general and managerial accounting concepts.

Salary : $100,000 - $127,000
