Genius Talent has partnered with a leading hospital in Harrisonburg, VA who have an amazing opportunity to join a dynamic team as a Surgical Technician specializing in the Cardiac Operating Room. As a Surgical Tech, you will be at the forefront, collaborating seamlessly with a diverse, multi-disciplinary dream team, working alongside Cardio-thoracic Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Cardiovascular Technologists, and the superheroes of healthcare – Physician Assistants and Registered Nurses in a state-of-the-art facility boasting two innovative operating rooms alongside a high-tech hybrid OR. This full-time position provides favorable working hours from Monday to Friday, spanning 6:30 am to 2:30 pm, along with a rotating on-call shift every other weekend.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with surgeons and operating room nurses to prepare and execute surgical procedures.
- Take charge of setting up the operating room with precision, ensuring all necessary instruments are ready for the procedure.
- Assist in preparing patients for surgery and proficiently pass surgical instruments and supplies to the surgeon during the operation.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the specific uses of all equipment and supplies employed in surgical procedures.
- Proactively anticipate the surgeon's needs during procedures, displaying adeptness with required instrumentation.
- Prioritize safety and efficiency throughout the surgical process, meticulously tracking instruments and supplies, and ensuring accountability post-surgery.
- Identify and respond to emergency situations with calm and efficient judgment.
- Take ownership of cleaning and restocking the operating room, ensuring it is well-prepared for the next procedure.
Requirements:
- Graduation from a recognized Trade School with a focus on Surgical Technology.
- Strong preference given to candidates with Corpsman experience or military/vocational training in operating room procedures.
- While experience in Cardiac Operating Room Surgical Technology is preferred, we welcome applications from enthusiastic new graduates!
- Mandatory certification as a Surgical Technologist.
- Virginia Surgical Technologists must hold a valid license with the Virginia Board of Medicine (VBOM).
- Possession of current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is a requirement.
