Geo Owl is seeking a Specialist (Data Scientist/Modeler) to support a classified intelligence mission in a traditional data science role. This position focuses on data analysis, modeling, and visualization to support mission and analytic decision-making in a client-facing, on-site environment.
The ideal candidate has strong Python-based data science fundamentals, experience working with structured datasets, and the ability to adapt analytic approaches to evolving mission needs.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform data analysis and modeling in support of intelligence and mission requirements
Develop, test, and maintain Python-based analytic scripts and models
Query, manipulate, and analyze data using SQL and structured data sources
Design and maintain data visualizations and dashboards to communicate analytic insights
Apply object-oriented programming principles to analytic development efforts
Support the development, testing, and refinement of new analytic methodologies
Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and mission partners in a classified, on-site environment
Active TS/SCI clearance with willingness to complete a CI polygraph examination
Ability to work on-site in Springfield, VA, 40 hours per week (very limited telework)
Proficiency in Python for data analysis, modeling, and automation
Level 2 qualifications, defined as one of the following:
Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience, or
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related)
Knowledge of GEOINT collection and associated NGA/NRO systems
Experience leveraging SQL for data analysis
Proficiency with data visualization tools, including:
Grafana
Tableau
Kibana
Experience with web and scripting languages, such as:
JavaScript
HTML
CSS
Experience applying object-oriented programming concepts
Ability to learn new technologies, adapt to dynamic mission needs, and develop/test new analytic methodologies
