What are the responsibilities and job description for the Geotechnical Laboratory Technician position at Geo-Technology Associates, Inc.?
Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is currently seeking an entry-level Laboratory Technician for our Construction Observation & Testing Division in Sterling, Virginia.
Laboratory Technicians will assist the Lab Manager in performance of laboratory testing and management. Lab testing will include concrete and soils testing in accordance with ASTM specifications. Experience is not required. On-the-job training will be provided!
Responsibilities Include
- Ability to learn and apply ASTM and other laboratory test procedures
- Perform testing in the laboratory on construction materials
- Work in the concrete room prepping and performing tests on concrete cylinders cores, masonry block, and prisms for compressive strength testing
- Break cylinders, prisms, and cubes of concrete and masonry
- Perform maintenance and calibrations on laboratory and field equipment
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Reliable, punctual, ability to take direction from others
- Own transportation, valid driver's license in good standing
- Physically capable of lifting 50lbs or more on a regular basis
