What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Mechanical Engineer position at GEOSPACE TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION?
Applicant must be a mechanical engineer with exceptional mechanical aptitude and five plus years of professional experience.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Take ownership of designing, developing, and launching products from concept to GA (general availability).
• Execute all ECs and DCs with complete compliance to change management protocols (ISO 9001).
• Develop test plans (DOE) and necessary fixtures to validate design requirements.
• Documentation Standards: 100% adherence to established design and documentation standards.
• Design housing for PCB and batteries that will survive ALT, shock and vibration testing.
• Source components and materials.
• Select machines and perform initial setup for new processes.
• Balance multiple projects at a time.
• Keep abreast of the latest technological advancements to integrate into your work.
• Other duties as assigned.
- Familiarity with NPD gate-process.
- 5 years of experience in mechanical design, with proven success in tight-tolerance design through to finished product.
- Excellent SOLIDWORKS skills.
- 5 years’ experience in designing watertight seals for consumer products.
- 5 years’ experience designing injection molding, machining, sheet metal.
- Experience with designing for high temperature/ high pressure environments.
- Hands-on experience with design validation tools (stress analysis, tolerance stack-ups, engineering calculations).
- GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
- (Preferred) Six Sigma certification.
- (Preferred) Experience with SOLIDWORKS Surface modeling.
- (Preferred) PE License.
- (Preferred) Ultrasonic welding experience.
- (Preferred) Mold design experience.
Education/Experience requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering Degree.
