What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Planner position at Geospace Technologies?
Function:
This position coordinates activities between manufacturing departments to ensure customer delivery promises are met. Daily activities involve expediting open work orders and all material needed for project completion and opening work orders to maximize production productivity.
Duties/Responsibilities:
The activities performed by this position include but not limited to:
- Master-scheduling
- Forecasting
- reviewing open sales orders
- reviewing MRP
- analyzing inventory transactions
- leading production meetings
- tracking performance to schedules
- daily labor reporting
- reviewing capacity planning
- reviewing inventory levels
- reviewing safety stocks and lead times
- expediting purchased components
- material and labor variance controls
- reviewing open work orders
- developing production schedules
- coordinating outside labor processes
- tracking Engineering Change dates
- quoting delivery dates to sales
Qualifications
Skills/Experience:
- Three to five (3-5) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment utilizing a computerized MRP system and or a two year associates degree in production management.
- Thorough understanding of computerized manufacturing systems.
- Basic understanding of spread sheets and Microsoft programs and the ability to create spread sheets, graphs and word documents needed to analyze supply and demand data.
- Background and skills needed for success include Microsoft Office Suite (especially spreadsheets)
- A working knowledge of computerized manufacturing systems, the theory of MRP, a familiarity with Bills of Materials (BOM’s), and the ability to read basic blue prints.
Education:
- 4 year business degree
- APICS certification a real plus.
