Brief Description
The Maintenance Supervisor has responsibility and accountability for supervising the daily execution of maintenance activities in their area of responsibility. The role requires strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a sound background in the technical proficiencies required for the maintainability of equipment. They will be committed to safety as their top priority. The supervisor assigns and coordinates maintenance activities with work crews, provides daily safety meetings, leadership, and guidance to carry out planned Preventive and Predictive Maintenance tasks.
The Supervisor's focus is on safety, equipment availability/reliability, craftsman productivity, and maintenance costs. The Maintenance Supervisor directs the daily execution of work processes and provides leadership to the skilled trades.

The role is responsible and accountable for supervising daily maintenance tasks of planned, scheduled, and non-routine maintenance functions in his area of responsibility by:
- Promoting a culture to ensure full compliance with all applicable Environmental, Health and Safety Standards.
- Ensuring crew members receive EHS Training for new equipment, tools, and processes.
- Assist in Identifying and implementing the required training for skilled trades.
- Providing leadership, motivation, and accountability to direct reports.
- Communicating effectively with all positions in the organization.
- Soliciting input from work group members and ensuring accurate data is captured.
- Interfacing with planner to assist in planning and scheduling of maintenance work.
- Assisting and coordinating with the planner for ordering components and materials.
- Verify and report labor availability for planning/scheduling
- Participating in planning/scheduling, cost review, and budget meetings.
- Communicating Non-Scheduled Work Orders to the planner with marked-up work order(s) including findings, recommendations, and closing comments.
- Ensuring compliance to planned and scheduled work orders (KPI’s).
- Coordinating opening/closing work orders with the planner in the CMMS System.
- Review/approve/follow up on findings to Supervisor/Planners as a result of PM Inspections.
- Daily Work Order and previous day's work feedback to the planner with closing comments.
- Ensuring skilled trades Work Order-feedback includes findings and task start/finish times.
- Efficient and effective equipment PM/PdM's and validation of service worksheets.
- Monitoring and controlling overtime, absenteeism, and productivity.
- Monitoring and controlling maintenance material and supply costs (e.g. daily consumable's, non-routine supplies, review "best buy/best quality" with planners and vendors).
- Adequately supervising quality of work, timeliness, and effective use of maintenance resources
- Ensure payroll is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Troubleshoot equipment and provide effective response to equipment emergency needs.
- Assist in development of yearly departmental budgets.
- Personnel administration functions, documentation, and other activities as required.

The Supervisor must have the following qualifications and skills:
- Demonstrated commitment to Environmental, Health and Safety
- High School Diploma or equivalent, maintenance and leadership work experience
- 5 to 8 years of successful leadership experience
- Strong work ethic and be self-motivated
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to motivate and mentor work crew members
- Competency in the use of computers and Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Logical problem solving and analytical skills
- Good estimating, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Familiarity of predictive and preventative principles and tools.
