Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and administrative support within a dynamic medical environment. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, patient service, and clinical procedures, as well as the ability to work effectively in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures
- Perform intake assessments, including taking vital signs and documenting medical histories
- Administer medications as directed by physicians and ensure proper documentation
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems to maintain accurate patient information
- Provide medical administrative support, including scheduling appointments and managing patient communications
- Conduct basic life support (BLS) as needed during emergencies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in various settings such as urgent care, dermatology, internal medicine, and emergency medicine
- Support patients through their healthcare journey by providing education on treatment plans and procedures
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace
Skills
- Proficient in medical terminology and anatomy knowledge
- Experience with ICD coding for accurate billing and documentation
- Familiarity with EHR systems for efficient patient record management
- Strong understanding of physiology to assist in patient care effectively
- Previous experience in hospital settings, including Level I or Level II trauma centers
- Knowledge of outpatient services, clinic experience, and geriatrics care
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures when required and assist in the OR (Operating Room) environment
- Experience in pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) settings is a plus
- Excellent communication skills to provide exceptional patient service
