Key Responsibilities
- Collect and document patient information, including reason for visit and vital signs.
- Gather specimens using appropriate equipment, ensuring proper handling and storage.
- Maintain well-stocked and organized patient care areas.
- Prepare patients for procedures, ensuring readiness of instruments and supplies.
- Coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic services, tracking test results and communicating with patients.
- Administer vaccines and medications, adhering to guidelines (if qualified and supervised).
- Process prescription requests and refills, documenting as necessary.
- Conduct basic office procedures, assessments, and tests (e.g., EKGs, vision tests).
- Provide patient education and instructions, enhancing understanding of health information.
- Assist in pre-visit planning and preparation, updating electronic health records.
- Efficiently manage patient flow and prioritize care tasks.
- Contribute to the improvement of office functions and processes.
- Uphold strict patient confidentiality.
- Support providers during exams, documenting information and ensuring post-visit care.
- Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or National Medical Assistant Certification (required upon hire).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required upon hire).
- Proficient understanding of medical terminology (required upon hire).
- Strong communication skills, including SBAR technique.
- Ability to present clinical information effectively.
- Experience with electronic health records.
- Excellent teamwork abilities and a self-motivated demeanor.
- Capability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Completion of all required education programs and competency testing (required upon hire).
- Relevant healthcare experience is preferred but not mandatory.
