GFT is seeking a Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Practice in Tampa, FL or Miami, FL! This is an exciting time to join our team of ITS and traffic experts providing cost-effective and compliant solutions across Florida and beyond.
GFT provides a complete range of ITS and Traffic Engineering services, including the development of planning, engineering, and design documents. Our work includes traffic studies, simulations/modeling, data collection, traffic design, and construction services. Our engineers are actively involved with the clients they serve and have experience of providing traffic engineering services for on-call task order contracts and site-specific projects. GFT team utilizes a sound engineering approach to provide cost-effective solutions that are fully compliant with state and federal requirements.

As a Traffic Engineer, you will be a motivated self-starter who thrives in a team environment. You will support a wide range of transportation and traffic projects, from planning to design.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing maintenance of traffic plans, signing & marking plans, ITS plans, traffic signal plans (isolated and interconnect), and lighting plans.
- Performing detailed engineering calculations.
- Writing technical reports.
- Preparing traffic/safety studies and concept plans.
- Developing design plan drawings using OpenRoads design software.
- Developing quantities and construction cost estimates.
- Performing field reviews.
- Using HCS, Synchro, and other traffic engineering software.
- Managing and delivering on multiple project commitments, both new and existing.
- Supporting internal teams and servicing outside clients directly.
What You Will Bring To Our Firm
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- E.I.T. certification.
- 3-5 years of experience in traffic or transportation engineering.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective client presentations and written report preparation.
- Experience with the development of ITS/Traffic engineering plans, specifications, and studies.
- Track record of successfully completing projects.
- P.E. license.
- Road Safety Professional (RSP) certification.
- Experience working with local public agencies and FDOT.
