Activity Aide-SNF-TCH-Sacaton

Position Summary: Oversees and supervises resident individual and group activities by performing the following duties personally. Responsible for ensuring that all critical tasks are fulfilled on a timely basis.

Critical Tasks:

• Maintains exclusive focus upon patients/residents, the quality of their care, and their individual needs without significant distraction by administrative and non-patient contact activities.
• Actively participates in the development of resident group activities that serve the social and developmental needs of residents.
• Takes all steps necessary to ensure full compliance with documented resident care plans.
• Incorporates resident interests and capabilities in all plans and activities developed.
• Maintains very frequent conversational contact with residents in their units and rooms to build positive and healthful working relationships.
• Properly prepares all activity locations to ensure proper equipment availability/access and activity success for most or all activity participants.
• Undertakes all activities in a manner that assures the safety and health of all activity participants.
• Maintains continually updated knowledge of the needs, skills and limitations of residents to serve each resident as effectively and professionally as possible.
• Develops specialized individual and group activity programs and adjusts program facilitation methods to meet the needs of residents with sensory, behavioral, cognitive and physical limitations.
• Maintains continuous verbal and behavioral connection with all activity participants to ensure that their needs are met while also acting appropriately in response to any indications of participant discomfort or difficulty.
• As necessary, provides one-on-one activities in resident rooms.
• Complies fully with all regulatory requirements as they relate to resident interactions and resident privacy.
• Accepts each resident’s ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds and preferences.
• Properly schedules and communicates all activity programs while taking all steps necessary to ensure resident knowledge of all activities.
• Undertakes all individual and group activities on a timely basis while complying fully with all communicated program schedules.
• Accurately documents activity program information and resident participation data.
• Makes recommendations to management on subjects of possible activity improvements, necessary changes, additions and discontinuations.
• Demonstrates ability to regularly change priorities to accomplish all tasks despite frequent interruptions.
• Demonstrates ability to clearly communicate, both orally and in writing, while performing all essential functions.

• Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.
