Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing quality patient care and supporting medical administrative tasks. Duties:
- Facilitates communication between the patient and the provider during patient care:
- Collect and shares pertinent information with the provider
- Receives and acts on directives from the provider
- Responsible for preparing the patient for visit with the provider. Duties include but are not limited to, rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vitals, reviewing intake paperwork, pulling up radiology images, removing dressings, procedure set-up, injection prep, accurate data entry into EMR.
- Responsible for completing tasks associated with Company initiatives such as PROs, Quality Payment Programs, etc.
- Maintains exam room standards. Rooms should be restocked at the end of each clinic day. Rooms and tables should be cleaned as needed during the clinic and at the end of each day.
- Monitor biohazard and sharps containers and replace them as needed.
- Assist the provider in preparing patient prescriptions and completing medical and patient forms (i.e. work release, FMLA, etc.).
- Retrieves and responds to voicemails within 24 business hours and documents actions in EMR.
- Prepares patient electronic charts for clinic visits before the date of service.
- Verify any outstanding testing results are in EMR, confirm the appropriateness of the patient to the provider.
- Scans clinical documents into EMR.
- Print clinic schedules on the morning of the date of service.
- Ensures patient receives education as indicated by the provider.
- Manages EMR desktops of assigned providers in a timely manner.
- Act as PTO Buddy per clinic plan
- Create and promote a positive patient experience
- Maintain HIPAA compliant environment
- Maintain clean workspace
- Perform patient service duties such as greeting and checking in patients, scheduling appointments, and managing patient records
- Assist healthcare providers with patient care procedures, including taking vital signs, collecting specimens, and administering medications
- Provide medical administrative support by maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient charts, documenting patient information, and managing medical records
- Code medical procedures and diagnoses accurately for billing purposes
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a clean and organized clinical environment
- Assist with basic life support measures in emergency situations
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant or related healthcare role
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Strong knowledge of patient care procedures and medication administration
- Experience with electronic health record systems preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
