What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Athletic Trainer position at Gillette Physical Therapy?
Gillette Physical Therapy has grown to be widely respected both across the state of Wyoming and nationally. We have collaborated with many of the top brands in Sports Medicine such as GameReady and HyperIce, functioning as a clinic site where many of their prototype technology can be tested and reviewed by our staff.
Gillette Physical Therapy offers in-house performance training in collaboration with our strength coaches as well as Physical Therapists. This interdisciplinary approach between PT/ATC/CSCS ensures continuity of care as the patient progresses from initial evaluation to their final adult fitness or athletic performance program. Our physiologist, who works with professional athletics in the Denver area, is also available via Direct Access.
Job Summary:
- Provide outreach Athletic Training services primarily to Campbell County high schools as needed.
- Cover venues as needed which may include coverage for college rodeo, American Legion baseball, Gillette Wild NA3HL, or Wyoming Mustangs professional football team.
- Assist and provide sports medicine expertise in clinic on weeks when high school athletics are minimal, whether it be through in-house visits or collaboration with PT.
Immediate Responsibilities:
- Identify, manage, and rehabilitate athletic injuries of athletes
- Provide on-site coverage of athletic team practices and events
- Develop professional contacts with referring physicians, coaches, and other referral sources
- Collaborate with Physical Therapists in treatment of patients with sports specific and orthopedic conditions as appropriate
- Refer to appropriate physician all cases which require diagnostic or surgical intervention
- Provide oversight and management of concussion testing as needed
- Participate and be an active provider as needed in athletic injury clinic
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Properly utilize Biodex isokinetic testing
- Provide on-site and in-clinic injury prevention and neuromuscular retraining programs for athletes
- Familiarize with equipment and educate clientele of GPT muscle recovery lounge
- Participate in data collection for research studies as needed
Requirements:
- BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
- Current CPR/First Aid/ AED Certification
- Eligibility for licensure in Wyoming
- Effective organization and documentation skills
- Effective decision-making and interpersonal skill
Other Desired:
- Familiarity with Athletic Trainer System documentation system
- Performance training familiarity and certification
- Sportsmetrics program familiarity
- Experience with ImPact testing
- Flexibility and adaptability on the job
