Get WIZARDY with us at Camp Welaka's 2023 Summer Resident Camp, enjoy the WONDERS at our 2023 Summer Day Camp and cool off with regular WATER activities to escape the hot summer sun!

Camp Welaka is located on the east coast of Florida in beautiful Tequesta, Florida occupying 640 acres which includes a swimming pool, lake and river access. Fill your bucket this summer by making a measurable impact on the lives of our girls, who for some it will be their first summer camp experience, ever.

Our 2023 summer camp sessions are as follows:

  • Pre-Camp Staff Training: Sunday 6/11/23 - Wednesday 6/14/23
  • Resident Camp Session 1: Friday 6/16/23- Sunday 6/18/23
  • Resident Camp Session 2: Tuesday 6/20/23 - Friday 6/23/23
  • Resident Camp Session 3: Monday 6/26/23 - Saturday 7/1/23
  • Resident Camp Session 4: Wednesday 7/5/23 - Sunday 7/9/23
  • Resident Camp Session 5: Tuesday 7/11/23- Saturday 7/15/23
  • Pre-Camp Staff Training (if needed): Saturday 7/15/23-Sunday 7/16/23
  • Day Camp Session 1: Monday 7/17/23 - Friday 7/21/23
  • Day Camp Session 2: Monday 7/24/23 - Friday 7/28/23
  • Day Camp Session 3: Monday 7/31/23 - Friday 8/4/23
  • Post-Camp Clean-Up: Saturday 8/5/23

Applicants are encouraged to commit to all summer camp sessions, and if approved to work less than all of the sessions, must be able to commit to the entire session or sessions they are selected to work. All selected applicants must attend pre-camp training.

What will a typical day look like in this role?

Do you enjoy variety? This position directs the health screenings of all campers and staff as they arrive and depart; maintains accurate and detailed medical records, infirmary logs, progress notes, medication administration and taking care of medical needs as they arise. This individual must have the ability to think quickly on their feet and have a Plan B in place.

This position lives on property in an air-conditioned cabin however you must be able to withstand the heat and stress of an average day (and night) at camp.

While no two days will ever be the same, there will be one daily constant: our ultimate goal is to make sure that our campers and staff are safe and having a fantastic time at camp!

Who are we seeking?

  • A caring individual with critical thinking skills and the ability to adapt depending on the situation.
  • Someone who can clearly communicate verbally in writing with children, parents, physicians, volunteers, peers, supervisors and subordinates.
  • An individual with the ability to cope and act wisely in an emergency situation.
  • Someone who can stand for long periods of time and can withstand the South Florida sun in the summer.
  • Someone committed to performing their work using a diversity, equity and inclusion lens.

What else will you need?

  • Applicants must be minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) with a current Florida license.
  • Current CPR certification and experience in first aid and emergency management.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Complete a Level 2 criminal background check with satisfactory results.
  • Complete a health examination and submit health history record prior to first day of work.
