Overview
We are seeking a person who is passionate and dedicated to the care of children between the ages of 5 to 18. As a Program Instructor, you will be required to supervise the children at all times, conduct program, keep spaces clean and organized, drive our 15 passenger vans, and serve snack. You are also expected to provide an encouraging, kind, and safe environment for all children.
Our Afterschool Program runs from August 4th to May 22nd. Staff work at least 20 hours a week, from 2pm to 6pm Monday through Friday. There may be an occasional 10am-2pm, 12pm-4pm, or 10am-6pm shift if the children we serve are on break from school (Christmas Break, Thanksgiving, Halloween, etc.).
We are specifically hiring for at least 2 staff for our Girls Inc of Bristol site (serves only girls), and at least 1 other staff who can be a floater between our Girls Inc site and Children Inc Bristol site. We are asking that any staff who apply are willing to drive one of our 15 passenger vans to do van route to pick up our Washington County VA/Bristol TN City kids.
On a normal school day, the children will arrive anytime between 2pm and 3:30pm. Staff will serve snack from 3pm to 4pm. Homework time can be held between 3:45pm and 4:15pm. Starting at 4:30pm is program time until 5:30pm. 5:30pm to 6pm is clean up!
Responsibilities
- Conduct and implement a variety of programming daily. (ex. Healthy Living, Positive Action, STEM, Leadership, Crafts, etc.)
- Gather materials/supplies for each program or activity. Clean up after program/activity.
- Serve snack daily. Clean up after each meal service. Snack is provided to us by FSWVA.
- Drive 15 passenger van, safely, with children from school to site(s).
- Communicate effectively and professionally with other Program Instructors. Communicate with Director of Operations and Director of Programs.
- Work together with other staff to conduct program, monitor children, serve food, clean program areas, etc.
- Ensure a safe, positive, healthy, encouraging and kind environment for ALL children.
Qualifications
- Need a High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- Need a valid driver's license.
- 18 years or older.
- Must be willing to get CPR/First Aid Certified.
- Must be willing to drive a 15-passenger van.
Preferred
- At least 1 year of childcare experience.
- Communication skills and the ability to collaborate with others well.
