What are the responsibilities and job description for the Private Lesson Instructor (Guitar +) position at Girt's Cortland Music 101?
Seeking a skilled musician qualified to teach guitar to adults and children in a music store setting.
This is NOT a seasonal position. This position is available year-round.
This is NOT a remote position. This position requires you to be on-site, in-person.
We are seeking a guitar instructor (someone who may also be able to teach other instruments or combinations; for example beginner piano, youth voice, beginner band instruments or beginner to intermediate school orchestral strings, etc).
An applicant who demonstrates proficiency on multiple instruments will have an advantage in this work setting (*if you teach any other instrument(s) in addition to guitar please list these on your resume along with your teaching proficiency level for each additional category, as we are seeking a value added instructor).
A person applying for this position MUST be proficient in music, and have a strong understanding of music reading and theory.
College degree in music is preferred, but not required. If you have degree(s), some college, or other professional association (including professional musician, private instructor), please add this information to your resume for our review and consideration. No State teacher license or certificate is required to apply.
A person applying for this position MUST pass a criminal background check - no exceptions.
Professional music background or prior teaching experience (public or private) is a plus. Any one-or-more of the following professional backgrounds in music is required: prior background in music instruction (public or private), a background in music performance, other professional association with a proficiency in music industry - including a high ability to teach musical instrument(s). An applicant for this position MUST have a strong understanding of basic music theory and music reading and feel comfortable teaching both children and adult learners.
