Medical Assistant Job Description - Interventional Pain Management
We are looking for a professional, service-oriented team player to join our busy Interventional Pain Management practice in Clinton, UT. As a full-time Medical Assistant, you will be the first point of contact and play an essential role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment. Candidates must be able to coordinate and track a variety of details to provide a seamless patient experience.
General Summary: The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting the Pain Management department with office visits and fluoroscopy-guided injections/arthrograms procedures.
Office hours are 7:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Thursday.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Prepares patients for the appropriate exams.
- Assist with patient preparation and positioning during fluoroscopic procedures as directed by the provider.
- Complete the initial intake with the patients, vital signs, and other pertinent information as required by the office.
- Document all information the patient provides and is available to the physician.
- Able to administer medications and give IVs to the patient.
- Know Medication Prior Authorization and denials.
- Performs medication review and reconciliation. Notes allergies as well as verifies medications the patient is currently using.
- Review patient history, current medical problems, and reason for procedure/visit.
- Assist patients with questions or concerns regarding their treatment under the supervision of the physician
- Relays the Clinician's instructions/orders to the patients pharmacy (refills only without changes), patients, and other entities via computer, phone, fax, or mail.
- Ensures the exam rooms are clean, stocked, and appropriately set up each day before rooming patients.
- Ordering/maintaining a stock of medical supplies, equipment, and medications utilized by the Pain Management team.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Equipment management (sterilization, upkeep, maintenance)
- Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices
- Ability to communicate clearly
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the staff, patients, and families.
Typical Physical Demands
- Clinical Office Setting
- There may be an occasional lifting of supplies up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to assist patients with standing, sitting, and getting on the examination table.
- Must be able to stand, pivot & frequently walk throughout the workday.
- Prolonged periods of sitting.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Understand medical/surgical terminology in pain management
- Knowledge of scribing and using an EMR; we are currently on Athena.
- Knowledge of computers and database/word processing/spreadsheet software.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of Medical office experience
- 1 year of Medical Assistant experience
- 1-year Medical Terminology / Anatomy
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
