The Opportunity
The primary purpose of this position is to support protein bar research efforts and develop prototypes, keeping the applications lab stocked, clean, and organized and carrying out experiments as outlined by the Bar Team Lead. The Bar Technician position works at the bench and pilot plant to support collaborative customer projects and new product innovation. This permanent position will report to the Bar Scientist II.
- Make existing “library” prototypes as requested by the Product Strategic Management (PSM) team and sales.
- Collaborate with the bar team to develop prototypes for customer projects utilizing Glanbia ingredients.
- Interact with customers onsite during collaboration visits, prototype tastings, meetings, etc.
- Communicate project progress, PSM, sales and customer interactions with supervisor.
- Run experiments as outlined by supervisor, including tests on current and new ingredients, capture physical testing data (texture, Aw, pH, sensory, pictures, shelf life, etc.) in a basic report.
- Operate, maintain and clean pilot equipment, maintain lab cleanliness utilizing a cleaning checklist, schedule, SOPs etc.
- Familiar with lab protocols, GMPs, comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
- Self-motivated, positive, able to multi-task and demonstrate the Glanbia values
- Communicate with suppliers and procurement to order and keep stock materials up-to-date
The Skills you will bring to the team
- Associates degree in a science related field or culinary arts is preferred.
- Ability to follow research protocols.
- Be familiar with basic computer skills and programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to write reports and organize data and pictures from results
