What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver position at GLBHC?
JOB SUMMARY
Directly responsible for transporting non-emergency patients from their homes or medical treatment sites to meet appointments at Great Lakes Bay Health Centers and/or other medical related locations. To perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

- Transports patients for lab, x-ray, and other medical related services to necessary medical facilities wherever needed. May also transport lab specimens. Checks to be certain that seat belts are in position and fastened when transporting patients. Children less than one year of age will be properly restrained in a car seat before the van is started. Assists patients in and out of the van.
- Cleans vans inside and out after each trip and/or at the end of the workday. Maintains vans with appropriate fuel and fluid levels. Provides general maintenance.
- Maintains mileage log and submits to the Transportation Coordinator when completed.
- Communicates with the dispatcher as to job assignments, location, and status of van and driver.
- Maintains responsibility for the protection of communication equipment and other GLBHC assets.

MARGINAL JOB DUTIES
- Acts on behalf of GLBHC in matters relating to security and safety.
- Assists GLBHC with matters relating to building maintenance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
- Licensure: Valid Michigan Driver’s License. Chauffeur’s License. DOT certified.
- Experience: Previous experience with transporting.
- Skills: Impeccable driving record. Evidence of insurability required. Organized, dependable, punctual. Able to follow directions, prioritize tasks, develop a routine, and function efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Interpersonal skills: Friendly, courteous. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population. Flexible and able to adjust to various situations and schedules. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Physical Effort: Must be able to sit, stand, and or walk for an entire workday. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and or twist while holding up to 25 lbs. often.
- Hours of Work: Part-time; Flexible and varied.
- Travel: Extensive travel between locations with use of company vehicle.
