Basic Function: The Financial Analyst role will have responsibility for aggregating and reporting on various Operations KPIs as well as owning the plant related balance sheet accounts. These responsibilities include preparing various journal entries, reporting on various KPIs, working with project managers, and preparing capital investment reporting, managing natural gas purchases, and assisting the plant finance teams as necessary. In addition, this role will assist in the development of procedures and internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets.
Duties:
- Assist Operations Finance Manager with annual budgets and forecast preparation
- Review and analyze monthly physical inventory variances and identify trends
- Perform general account analysis and reconciliations, including prepaids, accruals, inventory subledger to ledger, capital in progress, and other corporate and plant balance sheet accounts
- Assist plants with creating and maintaining bills of materials used in production and assist management with periodic reviews of product cost component accuracy as well as over/under absorption of actual costs
- Manage the natural gas purchases for the manufacturing plants
- Provide ad-hoc support to the Operations Finance Manager as may be required
- Monitor and review internal accounting controls and implement changes where necessary to safeguard company assets
Education and experience requirements
- BS/BA Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Relevant experience (1-3 years) in a manufacturing environment
- Well-developed analytical skills and experience in forecasting, budget preparation, and variance reporting preferred
- Basic knowledge of journal entry preparation
- Analytical mindset, strong attention to detail, takes pride in work output
- Advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel
- Experience with a larger ERP solution such as JD Edwards preferred
- Excellent communication skills and strong desire to learn and progress in a corporate or plant finance environment
- Must be willing to travel if necessary to assist manufacturing plant and masonry supply centers with physical inventories and review controls
