Reports to (Title): Quality Assurance/Inspections Manager
Primary Naval Inactive Ships Division: Global BREMERTON
Location: On-site Maintenance Office
OVERVIEW: Inspections Position
MAJOR ACTIVITIES PERFORMED:
Shall perform the Quality Assurance (QA) surveillance monitoring tasks as stated in the QA Program Manual. Shall be familiar with sampling plans, statistics, AQLs, noncompliance reporting and other evaluation procedures. Shall analyze results and report findings to supervisor.
1. Conduct scheduled routine inspections on all vessels in the inventory (e.g. fire and flooding alarms; integrity and security; hull preservation; CO2 bottles; cathodic protection; and dehumidification).
2. Performs quality assurance inspections of ongoing and completed work and follows up to ensure corrective actions are completed.
3. Train ship’s force in proper inactivation and lay-up of equipment, systems and ship spaces.
4. Conduct compartment closeout inspections in conjunction with ship’s force personnel during the decommissioning process.
5. Inspect Equipment removals, Cannibalization removals and work performed by the Maintenance
Department to ensure quality workmanship and safety and security of the job site.
6. Demonstrate proficiency in the Work Management System (WMS) and Material Readiness (MR) systems.
7. Enter Inspection results into WMS.
8. Update SABAR as required.
9. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the alarm system Remote Transmitter Unit (RTU) and RUGID systems.
10. Demonstrate proficiency and accuracy in maintaining Department files.
11. Demonstrate proficiency in conducting assigned Planned Maintenance (PMS) actions including use of multi-meter for electrical checks of Dehumidification (D/H), Fire and Flood (F/F) and Cathodic Protection
(C/P) systems.
12. Adhere to all corporate core values, policies, and procedures in the execution of all responsibilities.
13. Must be able to work effectively with co-workers in a professional manner at all times.
14. Travel is required up to 25%.
15. Position requires frequent use of vertical or inclined ladders and periods of kneeling, stooping, or maneuvering in close quarters.
16. May be exposed to moving objects, high elevations, sharp edges, poor illumination, inclement weather and other potentially hazardous conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
Must possess a sound knowledge of general ship systems and equipment, capable of understanding, inspecting and adjusting ships cathodic protection and dehumidification systems, must be able to interpret blueprints, drawings and technical documentation, must be able to instruct personnel on inactivation procedures, a high school diploma or equivalent, plus two (2) years of ship maintenance, shipyard, industrial waterfront or ship related quality assurance experience.
Must possess valid Driver’s License and be qualified to operate a government/company vehicle in accordance with the Corporate Fleet Vehicle Safety Manual.
Must qualify as a Shipyard Competent Person (gas-free) certification.
Preferred:
Five (5) years of ship maintenance inspection experience or relevant experience in the military.
Have the skills and knowledge required under 29 CFR 1915.7 Competent person criteria: ability to understand and carry out instructions from a Marine Chemist; knowledge of 29 CFR 1915 Subparts B, C, D & H; knowledge of the structure, location and designation of spaces where work is done; the ability to calibrate and use testing equipment; the ability to perform all tests and inspections; ability to inspect, test and evaluate spaces to determine the need for testing by Marine Chemist; and the ability to maintain records required by 29 CFR 1915 Subpart B.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Shipboard installed systems. Standard maintenance procedures. Inactivation process and all governing documents.
Must have general computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office products. Work Management
System and all Databases and government provided software required to be maintained.
SECURITY CLEARANCE:
