Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Electric Motor Winder to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems and mechanical repair, with hands-on experience in winding electric motors. This role involves working with various power and hand tools, performing repairs, and ensuring the efficient operation of electric motors and generators. The Electric Motor Winder will play a crucial role in maintaining our equipment and supporting our service operations.
Responsibilities
- Wind electric motors according to specifications, ensuring precision and quality.
- Repair generators and other electrical equipment as needed.
- Utilize soldering techniques to connect wires and components effectively.
- Operate power tools and hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Conduct routine maintenance on electric motors to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with service technicians to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues.
- Perform heavy lifting as required during the winding and repair processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols.
- Electric Motor Winder Qualification and Competencies:
- Experience in rewinding various AC and DC electric motors
- Experience in winding fields, armatures and synchronous rotor poles
- Inspect various kinds of electromechanical equipment for winding damage and evidence of electrical malfunctions
- Document/record all relevant data specific to unit’s electromagnetic characteristics, operating conditions, existing damage, or intended serviceability
- Prepare all motor for rewind and inspect for structural damage
- Strip stator without damage to core or iron
- Test rewound electric motors according to EASA Standards and record test results
- Ability to operate machinery and hoists
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 50 lbs
Experience
- Previous experience as an Electric Motor Winder or in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong mechanical skills with knowledge of generator repair and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in using both power tools and hand tools effectively.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely.
