We are expanding our ASL Interpreter team to support the USCIS contract and are seeking certified professionals to provide both remote (VRI) and onsite interpretation services.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate ASL interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and meetings (in-person and via VRI).
- Interpret effectively in sensitive environments, maintaining confidentiality and neutrality.
- Adapt communication styles to diverse individuals, including applicants with varying levels of English proficiency.
- Adhere to Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) code of professional conduct.
- Maintain compliance with USCIS protocols, security, and ethical standards.
- Participate in training, quality audits, and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
- RID, NIC, CDI, or equivalent certification (preferred).
- 2 years of interpreting experience in legal, medical, immigration, or government settings.
- Ability to work both onsite and via secure VRI platforms.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be able to pass a Tier 3 or Tier 5 federal background investigation.
- U.S. Citizenship or permanent residency required.
