Global Systems Design & Installation is looking for a Service Technician to join our team. Global Systems Design & Installation is the sister company of ResTech Services, acting as their onsite technical service and installation team. The Service Technician position is an integral part of the team, and the primary goal of this position is to ensure all low voltage systems and voice, video, and data services are serviced and installed in a professional and customer service-oriented way. The Service Technician reports to the Service & Install Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform wiring, installation, service, and maintenance of low voltage systems as required by the Manager.
- Perform all installations according to fire and building codes and according to the standards laid out by the Manager.
- Terminate and splice fiber optic cables, locate problem areas and perform other repairs as needed.
- Perform service calls and installations of voice, video, and data services.
- When interacting with customers and vendors, maintain a high level of customer service and ensure the customer is satisfied with the services you perform.
- Always conduct all business for the company as an ambassador of Global Systems Design & Installation and ResTech Services with integrity and in a professional manner.
- Perform all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Service & Install Manager and/or Director of Operations.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work in confined areas.
- Occasionally ascend/descend a ladder and some stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling in order to perform installation tasks.
- Ability to lift and carry tool boxes, drop wire, parts containers and installation loads, test equipment, concrete blocks, etc.
- May frequently operate company and/or personal vehicle to travel between offices or work sites.
Skills and Qualifications
- Associates degree in a business or technology related field, or two years’ experience in a technician role preferred.
- Proficiency in computer internet configuration and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of technology used in internet, telephone, and video services.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and remain motivated.
- Ability to install low voltage wiring in accordance with industry standards.
- Knowledge of best practices for proper grounding.
- Ability to align and install satellite dishes and antenna.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Have a strong understanding of customer service concepts and ability to implement them.
- Ability to deal with competing priorities and distractions.
- Ability to follow directives and instructions in an efficient manner.
- Ability to consistently follow policy.
- Fiber splicing experience a plus, but not required.
