What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher Assistant - Elementary Level position at Gloria Dei Lutheran School and Church?
We are looking for a Teacher Assistant to encourage the healthy intellectual and psychological growth of the children in our facilities. You will supervise them while also motivating them to use their mental capacities and exercise their imagination.
- Takes an active role when working with children.
- Assists with activities and specific duties as assigned, assists the children with individual and small group activities.
- Performs related work as required.
- Responsible for keeping an up to date, accurate list of all children in your care. Greets and welcomes children as they arrive each day.
- Is flexible and ready to assist and support our program as needed.
- Serves snack and lunch following USDA guidelines and procedures found in the Child Care Manual.
- Prepares items needed for projects and assembles materials as needed.
- Maintains order in the classroom; monitors children to make sure they are safe, engaging, participating, and involved.
- Establishes and maintains proper standards for students’ behavior.
- Responsible for taking children outside and for playground supervision and monitoring of students on the playground.
- Provides supervision and assistance to students as needed (playground, bathrooms, infirmary, serving lunch, etc.)
- Creates a loving, caring environment that is conducive to learning, playing, and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the children.
- Obtains mandatory 24 hours of training required per year. Training resources are provided.
- Works as a team player with teachers, other aides, and staff.
- Maintains a positive attitude. Addresses parents, staff, and children with an appropriate, professional voice tone.
