Job Overview:
This position will be in our Berlin, MD/Accomac, VA district. We are looking to hire talented professionals as Glazier/Installers to measure, cut, and install glass fittings in homes and businesses. A glazier’s responsibilities include cutting glass to specifications, assembling and fitting glass in windows, sliding doors, display cases, bathroom units, and other home, business, and commercial structures.

To be successful as a glazier, you should have detailed knowledge of the glass manufacturing and cutting process, be skilled at using various tools, possess good hand-eye coordination, be able to lift heavy objects, and have excellent communication skills. Essential Functions/ Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Verify alignment of structures or equipment
  • Install doors, windows, shower doors, mirrors, screen/glass porches, and other products as assigned
  • Mark reference points on construction materials
  • Smooth surfaces with abrasive materials or tools
  • Load or unload materials used in construction or extraction
  • Protect structures or surfaces near work areas to avoid damage
  • Assemble and/or dismantle equipment for temporary structures
  • Fabricate parts or components
  • Performing general physical activities
  • Perform duties with direct supervision (entry-level glazier)
  • Operating vehicles, mechanized devices (associate/expert glazier)
  • Inspect equipment, structures, or material (associate/expert glazier)
  • Organize, planning, and prioritizing work (associate/expert glazier)
  • Communicating with people outside the organization (associate/expert glazier)
  • Duties can be performed with minimal to no supervision (associate glazier)
  • Making decisions and solving problems (expert glazier)
  • Monitor processes, materials, or surroundings (expert glazier)
  • Estimating quantifiable characteristics of products, events, or information (expert glazier)
  • Assisting in scheduling work and activities (expert glazier)
  • Duties can be performed without supervision (expert glazier)

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to use tools such as tape measures, levels, hand drills, and electric saws and other glass-specific tools as needed
  • Must be able to read and perform basic arithmetic in fractions and decimals.
  • Good communication skills with supervisors, peers, and customers
  • Ability to evaluate information to determine compliance with standards

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required (all glaziers)
  • Valid Driver’s license required (all glaziers)
  • 1 year construction or glazier experience preferred (required for associate/expert)
  • 2 years of glazier experience preferred for associate glazier (3 years required for expert glazier)
  • 4 years of glazier experience preferred (expert glazier)
  • Must acquire OSHA10 training within 6 months of hire/promotion (associate/expert glazier)
  • Must acquire scissor-lift training within 3 months of hire/promotion
  • Forklift training preferred (associate/expert)
  • Must be OSHA10 certified (expert glazier)
  • Must have scissor-lift certification (expert glazier)

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach above head with hands and arms, lift push, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl, pull, talk, and hear. The employee must lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. May be exposed at times to either very hot or very cold temperatures. It is required that the employee be able to work on ladders up to 24 feet high. Employee could perform work in a cramped space or in an awkward position.

Travel Required:
Travel to and from job sites happens every day. A company-branded vehicle is available for use.

Work Authorization:
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
