Purpose of Job: 

 

Purpose: 

Reporting to the CFO, the Director of Finance manages, leads and coordinates the day-to-day functions of the Finance Department including the monthly close process.  This person understands GOAL Academy’s Mission and Vision and strives to support the culture that is a fundamental part of our school.  This position manages all functions pertaining to general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, purchasing and payroll.  The Director will also prepare and/or review appropriate ledger entries, reconciliations and produce accurate and timely monthly financial statements.  The Director will maintain knowledge of legal and regulatory changes.

• Assure the school is following all federal, state, and authorizer fiscal rules and regulations 

• Create, develop, and maintain fiscal record keeping systems for all projects 

• Develop and oversee systems to monitor budgets and cash flow to assure funds are being received and expended appropriately 

• Act as authorized fiscal representative for the school 

• Create, develop, and implement training, assistance, and support and training for school staff 

• Establish budgets with program administrators. Coordinate cost factors, receipts and budget administration 

• Ensure compliance with state/federal fiscal laws, regulations and Board policies 

• Maintain knowledge of legal and regulatory changes 

• Work with the Leaders, Finance Team, Directors and affiliates to manage and oversee all financial activities 

• Review and analyze financial reports 

• Maintain knowledge of internal control framework 

• Support and advise GOAL leadership in financial decision making 

• Develop trainings and resources for GOAL staff regarding compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. 

• Ensure the continued financial viability of GOAL Academy operational activities through sound fiscal management 

• Create, implement, and manage strong financial policies, processes, and procedures 

• Evaluate and provide feedback to staff

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

• Work location: Pueblo, Colorado - This position requires on-site attendance during regularly scheduled GOAL operating hours.

• Must reside in Colorado 

• Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License 

Education: 

• Bachelor’s degree and training from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or related field required, advanced degree preferred 

• Proficient in technology, especially financial software and Microsoft Office  

Experience:  

• CPA experience preferred 

• 5 years experience as an accountant required 

• 3 years experience supervising a team required 

• Administrative management experience as well as demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis with previous experience overseeing finances, information technology, and other related areas 

• Advanced knowledge of accounting practices (GAAP) 

• Public school finance experience preferred
