ABOUT GOALS
GOALS is a place for the quirky and unconventional. Our walls are covered with drawings and quotes like, “I’m in danger of learning MATH.” A pull-up bar and hula hoops are available for student use, and there’s usually a dog roaming about or napping in the office. Here at Goal Oriented Academics & Learning Sciences (GOALS), our focus is to foster self-sufficient learning through the application of individualized learning strategies and positive habit (re)formation. Most tutoring has one objective in mind: to help students remember information long enough to succeed in the next test. We don’t follow the traditional tutoring model, which only focuses on short-term knowledge bursts. We understand that students first need to understand their own mind and emotions in order to cement long-term positive behaviors. Only then can they hone in on their own way of learning to maximize their efforts and potential. We then create strategies to help each student achieve their academic and personal goals and build the habits they need to succeed. For some that can look like creating a visual essay on a whiteboard; for others, it can be a detailed homework-planning document. We are passionate about helping our students and want to hire people who think the same way, but who can put their own unique spin on it.
