Goldbelt, Incorporated is an urban, Alaska Native, for-profit corporation with offices in Juneau, Alaska and Herndon, Virginia. Its primary purpose is to manage assets and conduct business for the benefit of its 3,900 Alaska Native shareholders. We are now accepting applications for the 2023 Season. SUMMARY Goldbelt Tram is seeking a Specialty Sales Associate. The Specialty Sales Associates are responsible for promoting, demonstrating, and selling Alaska Native/American Indian art and merchandise. As well as, responsible for the achievement of customer satisfaction, revenue generations, and long-term account goals in line with company vision and values.

Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Alaska Native/American Indian art and merchandise.
- Knowledge of Southeast Alaska Native peoples.
- Highly organized, self-motivated and attentive to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills. Knowledge of particular product he/she is selling and an interest to learn more about it and about similar products offered by competitors.
- A patient and professional manner to assist customers throughout the entire process of purchasing.
- Ability to work with all types of customers.
- Ability to learn, understand, and follow or and written instructions/directions.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
- Cash handling skills. Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to passengers those areas of interest to visitors, such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
Preferred Qualification:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) years sales clerk experience in a gift shop.
- Proven ability to achieve sales quotas.
- Current CPR and first aid certificates.
- Three (3) years of experience selling native arts and crafts.
- Prior Tram Operations experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS Constant movement in/out of an aerial tramway cabin up/down a 1800 ft. elevation; constant public interaction and communication; must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds. The Tram is a non-smoking facility with designated outside-smoking areas.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Promote the sale of authentic Native art merchandise, initiate and close sales.
- Meet daily, weekly and monthly sales goals.
- Actively promotes merchandise and offers all customers prompt service. Demonstrate technical selling skills and product knowledge to give effective presentation of Alaska Native/American Indian Art and merchandise.
- Maintains a friendly, knowledgeable and courteous demeanor at all times.
- Operates cash register; makes and records cash receipt transactions; assumes all responsibility for gift shop bank/till.
- Keeps retail space neat and orderly.
- Greet customers at the store and offer assistance at all times judging whether a custom prefers to be waited on or to shop independently.
- Guide customers who know what they want to the correct section or making suggestions to customers who are not completely sure of what they want.
- Provide information and history on the products and Alaska Native peoples. Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
