Job Purpose:
The Department of Art at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA invites applications for adjunct instructors for the 2025-26 academic year (1 or 2 courses). We seek candidates with expertise to teach one or more art courses (Drawing I, Art Appreciation, Photographic Art, or Beginning Printmaking). Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and an inclusive learning environment, articulate course offerings they would contribute to the Department curriculum and describe their fit with Gonzaga’s mission.

Essential Functions:
- Prepare, plan, and teach assigned courses
- Hold office hours (amount determined in consultation with Department Chair)
- Create and grade assignments, including submitting grades according to established deadlines
- Teach one or two of the following courses in a semester, VART 101 Drawing I, VART 115 Art Appreciation, VART 170 Photographic Art, or VART 350 Beginning Printmaking
Minimum Qualifications:
M.A. (or equivalent) or professional experience.
Evidence of teaching effectiveness, including the ability to effectively respond to the academic needs of learners from diverse backgrounds.
Evidence of the ability to use effective classroom strategies and pedagogies to advance equity, inclusion, and belonging.
