Overview
Reports to: Senior finanacial analyst
Location: Fiscal Department, 305 Seventh Ave., New York, NY 10001
Hours: 35 hours, exempt
Job Summary: Assists in the coordination and preparation of all Agency public and private budget management and related financial analysis. Prepare and monitor contract expenditure reporting. Assist in recognizing budget spending and need for modifications.
Major Duties:
- Prepare monthly billing/expenditure reports
- Prepare monthly variance analysis to ensure proper control of billing to budget
- Prepare financial analysis, including budget to financial variances, key financial health indicators, and other as needed for private funders
- Prepare and coordinate agency government, RFP and private funder budgets
- Assist in preparing annual Agency-wide budget and various allocation.
- Monitor all spending, variance analysis and contract funding utilization
- Monitor timeline for budgets, modifications, and billing to ensure timely submission, meeting all deadlines
- Maintain the budget module and reporting systems in accounting software and related systems
- Prepare budget modifications and journal entries as needed
- Maintain detailed, organized file histories for each government or private program
- Contact government agencies as necessary to ensure Agency meets all guidelines
- Work closely with other finance staff and other support departments to best support contract management
- Assist with relevant audits, preparing and/or reviewing audit schedules
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Financial Analyst
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent plus 2 plus years experience
- Experience in budgetary and accounting analysis
- Excellent computer/technical skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Understanding of government requirements as related to a social service agency
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
