Job Title : Imaging Assistant

Summary : Attends to Imaging Department performing reception and clerical duties for all imaging service personnel during course of assigned shift. Assists imaging staff, patients and hospital visitors as required and / or directed by the imaging department. Staff must be able to attend to other departmental employment requirements as assigned by the Director of Imaging. Staff must be able to work with a variety of patients, physicians, and other staff at GRMC.
Essential Functions :

- Answers and directs phone calls to the appropriate personnel or department.
- Completes clerical duties by scheduling patients in an electronic and paper schedule.
- Assists with daily and monthly statistics, and daily charge overview
- Initiates and monitors insurance prior authorizations and pre-determination paperwork prior to scheduling.
- Escort patients to imaging rooms and provide verbal and / or written instructions.
- Able to respond to patient needs such as providing ambulatory assistance, lift / transfer assistance with appropriate orientation and safety measures.
- Meets policies and procedures, QA, Safety and Infection Control standards of the area.
- Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to ensure the safety of patients and team members.
- Assists with care and maintenance of imaging equipment and supplies. Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
- Perform related administrative duties including completing necessary forms, filing, billing, scheduling, phone courtesy, and insurance verifications.
- Retrieve orders from and input related data into the electronic medical record.
- Monitoring and maintaining stock levels of the imaging department.
- Willing to cross train into X-Ray as training or licensure allows.
- Schedule requires M – F.
- Constructively works with patients, physicians, and other departments.
- Consistently completes, prioritizes, and maintains assigned duties in a timely manner.
- Attends departmental staff meetings.
- Actively participates in performance improvement, continuous quality improvement, quality assurance and quality control studies.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Director of Imaging or Supervisor.

Position Qualifications :
Minimum Education : High school education or GED equivalent. Prefer prior experience as administrative assistant, secretary or similar, but will train on the job. Knowledge of the medical field is a plus, but not required.
Minimum Experience : Prefer 1 – 3 years of clerical experience; but willing to train on the job.
