SUPERVISES: n/a STATUS: Non-Exempt, Hourly, Full-time
Mission Contribution:
To provide world class customer service and assist the store in reaching sales goals which will enable the agency to provide more employment opportunities and services to the community.
Function:
Assists the Store Manager by helping with the supervision of employees, trainees and community service workers and seeing that the store opens and closes properly. This is a developmental position in order to develop the knowledge and skills needed to be an Assistant Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Ensures World Class donor and customer service, greeting customers within 10 seconds and providing friendly service and information, thanking customers at the end of a sale and inviting them back.
- Opens and closes the store as scheduled.
- Supervises, works with and motivates store employees to reach assigned production guidelines.
- Receives, prices, displays and sells store merchandise, as well as delegates others to do the same.
- Uses cash register to total sales, accepts payment, and authorizes voids, returns, exchanges and credit for merchandise.
- Records and balances cash register receipts, records store transactions, daily, or as scheduled to do so.
- Adequately stocks and maintains interior and exterior of store in an attractive manner.
- Follows production guidelines; rotate tables as much as possible.
- Rotate tables from sales floor and returns them to the proper place in the warehouse.
- Transfers tables from the back room to the sales floor when working in the warehouse.
- Pulls and rotates store merchandise as instructed by Supervisor or Manager
- Assists in stores loss control by watching customers and employees and reporting suspicious activity to the manager or director.
- Completes accurate sales reports and transmits to the main office by 10:00am each day.
- Observes safety procedures and personnel policies and ensures compliance by employees, community service workers and trainees.
- Supervises and trains staff giving them oral communications regarding work performance as necessary.
- Initiates and completes paperwork required in day-to-day operations of the store, in the absence of the store manager and assistant manager.
- Keeps employees daily attendance records and reports absences and attendance issues, in the absence of the store manager and assistant manager.
- Assists in conducting workplace orientations for new hires as needed.
- Keeps aisles free from debris in the production and sales floor area. Ensures the cleanliness of the store and/or production area by sweeping, mopping, dusting and cleaning bathrooms or delegating tasks to store employees.
- Maintains adherence to all company policies and procedures.

- Ability to function in a hectic work environment with occasional periods of high stress.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs. frequently and 75 lbs. with assistance occasionally.
- Ability to push equipment on wheels weighing 50 lbs. to 150 lbs.
- Ability to engage in frequent bending, stretching, stooping and prolonged standing, walking and twisting.
- Ability to use fingers, hands and wrists, repetitively..
Experience and Education Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
- Prior work experience in the service industry preferred.
- Prior experience operating a cash register preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
