Job Objective:

To insure the cleanliness of the physical plant and adjoining properties. This position reports to the Central Operations Manager who evaluates performance annually.

Essential Job Functions:

• Knows and understands the Goodwill Mission: “Strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through education, training and job placement.”
• To perform all custodial and related duties as assigned.
• Clean restrooms including:
  • Toilets
  • Urinals
  • Sinks
  • Paper towel holders
  • Soap containers
  • Toilet tissue holders
  • Soap dispenser
  • Mirrors
  • Trash containers
  • Restock paper towels, toilet tissue, soap as needed
• Clean warehouses:
  • Sweep all the floors
  • Empty all trash receptacles
  • Vacuum and dust offices as directed
• Clean entrance and exits:
  • Vacuum all area rugs
  • Sweep all other areas to include all corners
  • Wet mop the Employee Entrance as directed
  • Clean all mirrors, windows, glass doors
• Maintain outside area of plant:
  • Pick up and sweep all trash from docks at plant and annex
  • Remove all trash and debris from parking lot
• To be familiar with the cleaning needs of the physical plant and to work effectively with the equipment and the chemicals used in cleaning.
• To observe plant and department safety rules and regulations and to closely follow all label instructions pertaining to the safe and appropriate use of all cleaning chemicals.
• To be familiar with and use universal precautions when dealing with blood or other body fluids.
• Work to help maintain security and safety of the plant.
• Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to understand work schedules, written instructions, and instructions on labels for the safe and proper use of cleaning chemicals.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb ladders according to the requirements of the job at hand.
• Ability to work in any area of the plant or store with complete trust.
• Ability to work in a light industrial area, general office, and retail store.
• Ability to be exposed to cleaning chemicals and other industrial strength products.
• Ability to work around textile dust.

Equipment Used:

• Battery powered floor scrubber.
• Electrically powered floor buffers.
• Mop, broom, vacuum cleaner, trash bags, etc.
• Rubber gloves and other safety equipment as required.

Environmental Conditions:

• Office environment.
• Plant environment.
