Registered Professional Nurse

Foster an atmosphere of congeniality that facilitates implementation and sustaining the basic philosophy of GWNYNJ PROS and provide strength based recovery oriented services.      Administers IM medication, pre-pours oral medication for participants needing supervised medication.  Runs Health Education workshops and conducts health screenings for PROS participants.  Through interactions with the psychiatrist and other members of the interdisciplinary team monitors the participants’ medical and medication compliance.

• Foster an atmosphere of congeniality that facilitates implementation and sustaining the basic philosophy of PROS and provide strength based recovery oriented services. Promotes the concept of participants taking greater responsibility for self-monitoring of their medication and physical health issues towards the goal of the participants enhanced independence and self-sufficiency.
• Administer IM medication to PROS participants.
• Pre-pour oral medications for PROS participants who are on supervised medication.
• Maintain Medication Log and Inventory.
• Run Health Education workshops for identified participants.
• Conduct Health Screenings
• Monitor Chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and GERD.
• Attend bi-weekly supervision to review issues, coordinate services and present issues/ cases for review if unable to attend Recovery Coordination Meeting and/or PROS Administrative Meeting.           
• As schedule allows:  Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings and periodic in-service trainings.  Presents issues/cases for review at Recovery Coordination Meeting and PROS Administrative Meeting. 
• Attain and maintain competency in the various evidenced based practices including Wellness Self-Management and Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment.   
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

• Current NYS RN license
• Knowledge of older adult psychiatric rehabilitation preferred.  
• Experience in working with chronic populations in the context of a rehab and recovery model.
• Basic computer skills  

Will participate in client management and oversee clinical areas of other Team Members.

Home and community visits may be occasionally required.
