Summary:

Trains and coaches participants, as well as develops lines of communication and build partnerships within the community to assist participants who are seeking employment. Provides direct services to internal and external customers and collaborates with other professionals in accordance with program and business practices. Assesses individual participant barriers, obtains essential information, draws conclusions, and recommends a specific individualized plan for each client. Identifies skill-specific employment opportunities for participants and educates external businesses on how Goodwill can help them meet their business objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

All job functions are to be performed following safety guidelines and regulations.

• 
  Receive, record, and track participant activities.
• Receive, record and track current employment opportunities.
• Develop and schedule appropriate activities/classes for meeting participant’s IEP goal(s).
• Assist participants in developing resumes, conducting simulated interviews, and practicing job search techniques toward securing employment.
• Meet with participants bi-weekly to ensure they are meeting Individualized Employment Plan (IEP) goals.
• Conduct practice interviews with Employment Development participants and provide constructive feedback.
• Match employment opportunities to participant talents, training, interests, and experience.
• Facilitate classroom instruction (both virtual and in-person) using employment related curriculum.
• Notify qualified candidates of job opportunities and facilitate participant/employer communications when necessary.
• Follow up with participant and/or employers to determine referral results.
• Identify prospective employment opportunities within the service area of Goodwill.
• Encourage proactive interaction between participants and their employers.
• Participate in local Career Fairs and other networking opportunities as they become available
• Network within the community 8 hours per month to develop partnerships.
• Demonstrate the Mission of Goodwill Industries of Northwest Texas on a daily basis: “Goodwill is a local non-profit helping people overcome challenges, find jobs & grow careers.”
• Demonstrate the Core Four in all interactions: “Be Honest, Be on Time, Work Hard and Be Respectful of Others”.
• Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; related experience in social work may be substituted.
• Experience in a related field: two years preferred.
• Experience working with or assisting persons with disabilities or barriers to employment is preferred.

• Ability to work with participants in a genuine and empathetic manner.
• Must have excellent time management skills.
• Must be competent in Microsoft Word and Excel and able to pass NorthStar Assessment in for both.
• Ability to problem solve and remain calm and professional when dealing with participants, staff, and visitors.
• Ability to travel inside the Goodwill territory and abide by all procedures pertaining to the use of a company vehicle.

• Speaking on the telephone with coworkers, participants, and referring counselors.

• Must be able to sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement to type and work on computer.
• Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment.
• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
• Must be able to travel as needed.
• Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
• Must have valid Texas driver’s license, proof of liability insurance, and a good driving record.
