Position Description Summary/Purpose:
Full-time faculty members at Goodwin University are responsible for maintaining the highest academic standards in their specific disciplines. They teach 15 credit hours each semester, across three semesters annually. Faculty teach year-round, serve on college committees, develop and update curricula, stay current in their academic fields and teaching methods, participate in both on- and off-campus staff development activities, perform administrative duties related to their roles, engage in university, professional, and community service, and pursue scholarly work related to teaching and learning.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

- Teach all classes according to an approved course syllabus.
- Ensure that each course includes essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and remains current.
- Ensure that assigned classes are conducted as scheduled and maintain strong attendance and punctuality.
- Assess student academic achievement and demonstrate adjustments to teaching methods based on assessment feedback and universal course design.
- Submit reports accurately and promptly, including attendance, grades, and related documentation.
- Attend team meetings and participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of content area goals and curriculum review based on student learning outcomes.
- Initiate discussions and suggest improvements to the Director of Natural Sciences regarding teaching, curriculum, and processes aimed at enhancing student outcomes.
- Attend professional development activities to stay informed about current trends and innovative instructional approaches.
- Serve on and provide information to university committees as needed and requested.
- Engage in scholarly work (e.g., presentations, publications).
- Conduct all work safely and follow all work safety practices.
Teaching Schedule and Commitments
- The position requires on-campus teaching during both day and evening hours throughout Goodwin's three-semester academic year.
- The successful candidate must demonstrate availability for flexible scheduling across all daytime and evening teaching blocks.
Other Functions:
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Natural Sciences and the Dean.
- Continue professional development and training, staying current with industry trends.
- Engage in scholarly activities (e.g., presentations, publications).
- Help other team members as needed to encourage teamwork.

Qualifications
Education, Training, and Experience:
- Minimum master’s degree in natural sciences, human biology, chemistry, or a related field
- Minimum two years of experience teaching natural sciences with a lab to undergraduates
- Demonstrated skill in teaching in an on-campus classroom and an online environment
- Knowledge of current trends and practices in teaching science to undergraduate adult learners
- Demonstrated ability to use web-based applications and learning management software
- Demonstrated dedication to excellence in teaching and a commitment to high academic and professional standards
