The Activities Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing a variety of activities, which not only engage guests but also promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Other duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
General Activities
- Develop and maintain a schedule of a variety of activities and effectively communicate it to guests and staff
- Execute activities, ensuring they are engaging and tailored to the needs and interests of guests
- Participate in the coordination and physical set-up and breakdown of activities
- Focus on creating activities that enrich guests’ lives with mental, physical, and spiritual exercise and socialization
- Maintaining records of activities, guest engagement, and program effectiveness, making adjustments as needed
- Adapt activities to meet the diverse needs of guests, including those with disabilities or special needs
- Promoting activities, encouraging participation, and fostering a sense of community among guests
- Ensure a safe environment for all guests, adhering to relevant safety regulations and guidelines
- Uphold and maintain GRM’s Standard of Excellence and culture
- Manage the activities budget, including purchasing supplies and equipment, always utilizing donations first
- Oversee and supervise guests/volunteers assisting and participating in GRM’s activities
- Gathering feedback, evaluating program effectiveness, and making improvements based on data
- Work in collaboration with other community-facing teams and at GRM events as assigned
- Record and report outcomes of GRM program efforts as outlined in the department playbook
- Maintain a professional demeanor and foster a supportive work environment based on love, grace, dignity, and respect
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Proven ability to write concisely, to express thoughts clearly, and to develop ideas in logical sequence
- Independent problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to implementing solutions
- Work in collaboration with other community-facing teams at GRM
- Plan and Organize – creating activity schedules, managing budgets, and coordinating with other staff members to ensure smooth execution of activities
- Community Building – Building strong relationships with guests
- Communication – Aim to promote engagement, social interaction, and mental and physical stimulation through diverse activities
- Satisfy all pieces of training as assigned by the manager (onboarding, basic training, OPPD, etc.)
- Attend staff meetings as directed
- Perform other duties as assigned
- A bachelor’s degree in recreation, social work, therapeutic recreation, or a related field is preferred, or 2 years of professional experience coordinating and supervising recreation activities, event planning, or special events
- Nonprofit experience and familiarity with serving those in recovery and homeless populations preferred
- Proficient in verbal and written communication
- Expert user of Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficient and meticulous attention to detail, active listener, and problem solver
- Maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License and have a clean driving record
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
- Must be Christian, living a life dedicated to Christ, and be an instrument of God’s love, grace, hope, and forgiveness to all
- Some local travel to other locations for business-related needs or events
- Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds

- Full-time 40 hours per week exempt; eligible for paid time off; eligible for benefits
