What are the responsibilities and job description for the Filament Wind Helper position at GP&C?
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will require a helper to assist filament winder operators during production down-time to accelerate production work flow. The helper should be able to lift 40lbs and get company training to use crane to keep tooling storage area clear and clean. Helpers will be key personnel in managing the loss of production time by preparing tooling or winder ahead of work order start-up. The helper will constantly keep encompassing area clean during winder operations and assist winder operators when parts are complete.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Ability to lift 40 lbs. and stand for an 10 – 12 hour shift
2. Help operator’s setup machines, load tooling, pour resin, string machine, and load creel.
3. Help maintain machine operations by cleaning, offline repairs on machine tooling, and laying down plastic/tar paper/grip tape.
4. Works closely with operator to support daily production objectives.
5. Put away billet tooling and store carts in proper area.
6. Reports all maintenance problems to supervisor for prompt attention
7. Report any safety issues and injuries to supervisor
8. Maintain a positive attitude, and work with others as required in a team based work environment.
9. Must prevent exotherm through awareness of work material’s physical and chemical properties (roving, resins, hardeners, wax, etc.).
10. Follows daily production schedule to help operator be prepared ahead of work orders.
11. Ensure complete electronic and physical control of all material movement in and out of work station.
12. Attend departmental start up and end of shift meetings.
13. Maintain a clean and safe work area by ensuring immediate stocking or issuing of incoming material. Machine preventative maintenance to keep machine in proper operational order
14. Clean and prepare tooling for upcoming work orders to assist filament winder operate production.
15. The helper will maintain clear aisles by keeping carts, trash, or pallets free of aisle way.
Other Job Responsibilities:
a) Assist in running any one of five filament winders during allotted break times.
b) Excellent communication skills
c) All other duties as assigned by Production Supervisor and area lead.
