Facilities / Maintenance Assistant
Classification: Non-exempt, Full-time
Reporting Relationship: Reports to Manager Facilities
Supervision Responsibilities: No
Essential Role: This position is responsible for providing upkeep and maintenance of all GraceMed Facilities. Responsible for following all safety policies and procedures and performing general maintenance in a cost effective and efficient manner.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists in planning and implementing an ongoing preventative maintenance program for all GraceMed properties including; heating/cooling, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, interior/exterior maintenance, and grounds.
- Assures optimal functioning of GraceMed Clinic maintenance needs; assures that the health and safety consideration of clients is considered in planning and scheduling maintenance.
- Schedules and conducts preventative maintenance inspections of GraceMed properties on a weekly basis. Documents and assures follow-through on any necessary repairs and preventative maintenance needs noted in the inspections.
- Monitors daily, cleanliness of all GraceMed properties and take appropriate action if deficiencies are noted. This includes buildings and yards.
- Assures that GraceMed Clinic purchasing policies, procedures, and authorizations are followed for all maintenance related financial transactions.
- Obtains appropriate authorization prior to initiating work with outside contractors.
- Assures tools, equipment and materials are maintained in a safe and secure manner.
- Assures work orders are completed for all maintenance related requests and documentation exists on follow-up action taken, including: a description of the work done, materials used, date completed, person/company performing the maintenance, cost of repair, etc. Forwards completed work orders to the Executive Assistant for filing.
- As necessary, assures snow and ice is cleared from sidewalks, parking lots, and entrances during the winter months.
- Ensures that GraceMed policies, procedures, OSHA, and licensing regulations are followed in regard to maintenance and repair of facilities.
- Open/Secure buildings as requested (during Tornado warnings, ensure that stairwell door leading to basement is open and clear.
- Ensures all fire extinguishers and other safety equipment are in working order.
- Maintains MSDS on all chemicals used at the GraceMed facilities.
- Responds to clinic security issues including escalated patient disputes and after-hours security monitoring calls.
Qualifications:
Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Kansas Driver's License and satisfactory driving record required.
Experience
- Minimum two years’ experience in facility maintenance.
- Additional technical education or training in HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, appliances, facility maintenance is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Must possess a thorough knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment, including computers, copiers, and other standard office equipment.
- Ability to work independently, organize, monitor, and adjust work as necessary to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems.
- Ability to type accurately, make accurate arithmetic computations, prepare and maintain complex records and reports.

Working Conditions:
Medical office setting. Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. Bending, stooping, and lifting (up to 75lbs.) may be required. Interaction with physicians, patients and other office personnel. May involve contact with angry, upset or ill persons. May involve potential exposure to blood and body fluids and other hazardous substances. Must have visual acuity and manual dexterity to interface with computer. Must have auditory acuity to handle phone calls. Will involve working outside, supervising maintenance of buildings and grounds.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. May require work outside of usual business hours; including evenings or weekends and possible overtime.
