JOB OVERVIEW
Provides direct care to patients with a behavioral health illness which includes observing and monitoring patient behavior; assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADL); assisting other staff to ensure patients participate in prescribed treatment and activities, leading activity groups and community meetings, admitting and orienting patients to the unit and assuring all unit tasks are completed properly. Work is performed under the close supervision of the unit nurses.

JOB DUTIES
- Partner with team members to de-escalate patient behaviors through trained verbal resolution and/or hands-on restraining techniques
- Assist patients in daily living activities therapeutic environment.
- Maintain safety and security of the unit including patients, staff, and visitors through detailed hands-on screenings and searches
- Accurate and timely completion of required patient documentation
- Monitor patient behavior and address concerns.
- Provide appropriate nutrition based on patients’ dietary needs
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- A secure facility that provides an inpatient treatment program for those experiencing a mental health emergency needing 24-hour care in a safe supportive environment.
- Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds of dead weight alone.
- May be required to stand for an extended period and/or for the entire work shift
- Maintains confidentiality and remains calm under stressful situations.
- Managing and organizing the continuous workflow of the unit and workspace including the cleanliness of the environment.
- Inpatient behavioral health care setting. Fast-paced team approach. Multi-tasking. Requires above-average time management skills.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a High school Diploma or GED
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs of dead weight
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills
