Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surveyor to join our team at a mass grading and earthwork contracting company. The Surveyor will be responsible for accurately measuring and mapping land surfaces to support large-scale grading and site development projects. This role is essential in ensuring that grading operations are executed according to design plans, with a high level of precision and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform topographic, boundary, and construction staking surveys for grading projects.
  • Interpret and work from construction plans, blueprints, CAD files, and civil engineering documents.
  • Set up and operate surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS, and data collectors.
  • Verify elevations, cuts, and fills to ensure compliance with grading designs.
  • Provide layout for rough and fine grading, utility installation, and other site improvements.
  • Communicate directly with superintendents, foremen, and machine operators for field coordination.
  • Perform daily field calculations and maintain detailed records of survey data.
  • Download/upload data and collaborate with project engineers and CAD technicians.
  • Support drone flights and digital modeling (if applicable).
  • Ensure all work adheres to company safety standards and environmental regulations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in surveying, civil engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in construction surveying, preferably with mass grading or civil contractors.
  • Proficient in GPS systems (Trimble, Topcon, Leica) and total station operation.
  • Strong understanding of grading and earthwork processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil site plans and grading sheets.
  • Physically able to work outdoors in various terrain and weather conditions.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with machine control models and supporting GPS-guided equipment.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
