Job Summary
The General Manager of Football is responsible for assisting the Head Football Coach. This position must adhere to all safety standards, ensure the well-being of student-athletes and support their academic success.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
The General Manager functions in the following roles:
- Assist the head coach in administering a highly competitive Division I Football Program
- Handles many aspects of the team, including the recruitment and advisement of players
- Keep abreast of changing rules, techniques, technologies, and philosophies relevant to their sport
- Evaluate and recruit qualified student-athletes
- Commits to and is responsible for adhering to all rules and regulations set forth for the team, the University, the SWAC and the NCAA with the utmost integrity
- Work cooperatively with personnel in the athletics department, always present the University positively when interacting with the community, alumni, high school and AAU coaches, media and general public
- Sets up recruiting visits between coaches and high school players and oversees student athletes’ housing and academic affairs once a recruit arrives on campus
- Serves as the liaison for the NFL Pro Day, football alumni, strength and conditioning staff, university facilities, and department’s sports information office
- Assist with scheduling community service events
- Organizes summer football camps
- Participates in fundraising and booster activities
- Promote student participation with all home games
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- Two to five years experience in coaching on the high school or intercollegiate level.
- Effective written/oral communication
- Ability to work effectively with all collegiate personnel, students, alumni and community
- Sound judgement and maturity
- Must be knowledgeable of NCAA rules and regulations
- Master’s degree
- Previous experience in intercollegiate athletics
