Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree required, preferably in the areas of school administration, supervision, curriculum, and child development.
- Elementary experience preferred. Candidates must possess or be in a program to obtain a valid Michigan administrative certificate.
- A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience and must have a valid teaching license.
- Knowledge of literacy and numeracy pedagogy and learning systems.
- Knowledge and experience in utilizing Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, including PBIS for behavior intervention.
- Evidence of the candidate’s ability to provide quality leadership must be demonstrated through:
- Excellent communication skills;
- A strong sense of honesty and integrity;
- Strong problem-solving skills;
- The ability to use a variety of adaptive leadership strategies;
- Skill and sensitivity in working with all members of the school community;
- Evidence of a high capacity work ethic;
- Skill in fostering the continuous growth of staff members; and
- A commitment to community.
- Interact with all students in a positive manner to encourage performance at their highest level.
- Provide general supervision/discipline to students.
- Engage in the IEP process and facilitate the ongoing implementation of the IEP and behavior support plans.
- Maintain positive relations with parents, parent groups, school volunteers and outside agencies.
- Assists in the preparation of the master schedule, staff assignments, student scheduling, and attendance reports.
- Participate in and support the development of district-wide activities, in-services and committees.
- Implement policy and procedure changes from the Board or state and federal levels.
- Support priorities to meet the needs of students and teachers through work with the School Improvement Team and collaboration with staff and parents.
- Conduct teacher evaluations.
- Other duties as assigned by Central Office Administration.
- Identify and engage in his/her professional growth in shaping the principal’s professional practice
