What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Planner position at Grandin Road?
The Assistant Planner will generally report to the Planning Director and is responsible for assisting and supporting forecasting, order writing and PO management within assigned categories. This position will help with preseason and in-season assortment preparations, analytical trend reporting, and other ad hoc reporting where needed. Support may include purchasing, some forecasting, and managing inventory at the item, collection, and subcategory level.
In addition, this position has responsibility to actively manage inventory with a customer centric approach, supporting in-stock position and managing PO dates on back orders.
- Weekly prepare and distribute key reports including Fill Rate and In Stock forecasts.
- Meet routinely with Planner and Merchant partners to communicate and help resolve any delays, customer outreach or Vendor issues that need resolution. Be proactive and solution minded.
- (Preseason) Support the Senior Planner with assigned category or subcategory preparation of the assortment and demand by collection to validate financial plans and strategic goals a seasonal basis.
- Support is a cross-functional effort with Planning and Merchandising Directors, Merchants and Planners; key tool/process used to support this are seasonal Road Map and Category financial build to validate that the bottom-up plan supports or exceeds the tops down plan, with a special focus should occur on core demand drivers to establish safety stock logic. Great communication both cross-functionally and with vendors will be key.
What you will bring
- Minimum Education: High School Degree
- Preferred Education: College Degree in financial or merchandising related field
- Minimum Experience: 1 year experience in planning, allocation or merchandising related field.
- Preferred Experience: 1 years in a retail, supply chain, analytical level position relating to retail inventory management. Experience in direct to consumer.
