Web Press Operator 2nd & 3rd Shift $21.75 to $28.75/hr

  We are seeking motivated candidates with strong leadership skills, mechanical abilities, and an attention to detail for our Web Press Operator positions on 2^nd and
3^rd shift. Web Press Operators are responsible for the operation and maintenance of four-color web offset presses and have responsibility for overseeing their press crew. The Web Press Operator position also offers full time hours, benefits, opportunities for overtime, and a chance to work with a thriving family owned company of more than 60 years.  

This position offers $21.00 to $28.00 starting pay, based on experience. Plus $.75/hr shift premium.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  

· Operates or directs operation of four-color web printing press to print in accordance with job tickets. 

· Prepares press for each new job based on job ticked information by hanging plates, ensuring the proper size paper are on press, cleaning press, filling solvent bottles, lubricating, changing and adjusting rollers occasionally moving and hanging rolls, and webbing the press. 

· Makes job ready by running samples to adjust print quality, registration, and color settings. Checks all print jobs against a job specific checklist provided by shift supervisors or customer service. 

· Directs and supervises press crew. Keeps work area clean and unobstructed. 

· Makes final pre-run inspection of job and confers with supervisor for approval. Responsible for maintaining quality of printed work throughout the entire print job. 

· Performs preventative maintenance such as lubrication, replacement of parts, cleaning and adjusting the rollers and other moving parts while performing duties to safety standards, training, and expectations. 

· Complies with safety standards and regulations required my OSHA/MiOSHA. 

· Operates skid jack to move skids to shipping department, as necessary. 

· Logs activity of press and crew in the costing system. 

· Performs other tasks as requested.  

RELEVANT JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE  

REQUIRED:  

· Printing press operation experience 

· Basic mechanical skills 

· Basic mathematical skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills 

· . Verbal and written communication skills 

PREFERRED:  

· Web offset press operation experience 

· Experience with color and color matching 

WORK ENVIRONMENT  

· Close-toed shoes are required when working in and around production areas.  

· Noise exposure when in Web Pressroom and Sheetfed areas with 85 dBA level. Hearing protection is offered and required.  

· Temperature of manufacturing plant can become humid and hot  

· Maneuvers within smaller/ cramped work spaces  

· Operating equipment having various moving parts  

· Occasional use of skid jack to move finished product  

· Follow general safety guidelines and procedures when working with machinery  

· Functions well with a team and in an individual environment.  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

· Prolonged standing & walking  

· Frequent lifting– up to 50 pounds  

· Bending/stooping/twisting/kneeling/ crouching/reaching  

· Repetitive motions  

· Normal color vision
